Bean Wins!!!

Election Results Here!

November 2, 2004: The First Republican in Recorded History to Represent the 163rd District, Otto Bean Wins Historic Bid for Re-election: Bean issued the following statement:

I am thankful for the trust the voters have placed in me, and for their continued confidence. It is an honor to represent the 163rd district, and I am deeply honored to have been re-elected today. I will do everything in my power to continue to justify their confidence and to represent them in Jefferson City.

My opponent conducted a vigorous campaign and I commend him for that. As the first Republican to represent the 163rd district in over 120 years, I support a two party system, and public debate and discussion of the issues is a good thing for all of us. I also want to assure my opponent’s supporters that my office door is always open to them, and that I will never lose sight of the fact that I work for everyone in the 163rd district – Republican, Democrat, and independent.

I also want to give a special thanks to my supporters and volunteers. This campaign was a team effort, and there are so many people who put in long hours going door to door, making phone calls, walking parade routes and doing the thousand jobs that go into a successful campaign. In particular, I want to thank my wife, Janet. She’s been by my side through the first campaign, in Jefferson City, and again through this campaign. She’s been a great advisor, manager, and coordinator. I couldn’t have done it without her.

Once again, I appreciate the voters of the 163rd district, and I look forward to representing you for a second term in Jefferson City.  Thank you.   St. Louis Post Dispatch, Daily Dunklin Democrat, Daily American Republic, Daily Statesman
